We are currently working on an unlock code for your player's original handset, but Sony tend to make these things difficult.
For the time being you'll have to get your hands on a OneForAll remote control.
Set the command mode to DVD1 using the recorder's menu. After that use the OneForAll and enter the code 0533. This will sync the controller to your player.
The procedure to program the buttons is the following:
1. Hold SET (the icon with the hat) button until the LED blinks twice.
2. Select the KEY MAGIC
3. Press the "DVD" icon then Key Magic
4. Now type 001891
For some remotes, the '00' prefix need not be applied, so 001891 would become simply '1891'
5. LED blinks twice
6. Repeat steps 2-5, only this time enter the codes 002552, 000953, 002214, 000745. These have to be entered for each step.
