Press SETUP
Go to "Preferences"
Press LEFT 5 x
A new menu entry appears (Version)
Select it
Select RC (0=codefree)
Press SETUP
Turn the player off
To enable VCD playback (must enable multiregion above also):

Power on player
Press SETUP on remote
Select 'Passwords'
Press the left key five (5) times
Should say 'VCD enabled' at bottom of screen
Power off player from unit (not from remote) for 20 seconds
